On the Red Cross website, they have reissued the official knit kit that was available from WWII that gives supplies and instructions for knitting socks! This is especially appropriate since the Molly movie is coming on in a little more than a week.

I want this just because of Molly and it would be fun to recreate a doll-sized version of this.

Click below to see(and purchase) the knit kit:

    That's cute!

When AG did "crafts of the month" for the historical dolls like 15 years ago- Molly had a "knitting nellie". It was this little red thing you could use to knit with. It came with rainbow yarn and instructions to make a hat for Molly. I have the hat I made but I lost the rest of the kit.

We have about 6 trunks of WWII-1958 uniforms upstairs that we have to get rid of. I know it contains real army wool socks, but who wants them these days. I could unravel one of the socks and make my own authentic kit. Any other suggestions? I have thought about trying to make a WWII uniform for Molly's father, but that is so much tailoring! I did save the wool lining from one of the coats to make a navy blue cape for someone in Felicity's time. My problem, is that I rarely get anything done, but I have lots of stuff for projects.

In case you are wondering about navy and kaki, my FIL was in all 4 branches of the service before he retired, so we have several kinds of uniforms. He was a decoder of secret messages!

Here is a site for a free scarf pattern, and if you complete it then it can go to a veteran:

---And this site is interesting also with the history of WWII knitting for Victory:

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">There are WWII reenactors who will pay decent money for those uniforms on ebay if they are in good shape.
